Mulanje Mission celebrates DL200

Saturday September 7th was a great day at Mulanje Mission, as we celebrated 123 years since the foundation of the mission, and the bicentenary of the birth of David Livingstone.

Guests included the Malawi Government, represented by the Minister for Water and Irrigation and many local community leaders, CCAP Blantyre Synod, represented by the General Secretary, the Moderator, Rev Professor Silas Ncozana and many ministers, visitors from Edinburgh and Australia together with many many people from the local community.

Events included a service, talks on the life of David Livingstone, singing, dancing and a memorable drama depicting the role of Livingstone in the abolition of slavery. The Hospital and Nursing College presented stalls showing many aspects of their work. The day concluded with football and netball matches – great fun was had by all.
