Sponsor a Hospital Bed Program

The sponsor a hospital bed program has been developed for organizations and individuals who wish to contribute to health care in Malawi in a way that has both a direct visible effect and adds to structural improvement.
In our Mulanje Mission Hospital an amount of US $ 500 makes a hospital bed available for approximately 40 patients during a whole year.
It is not an exaggeration when we say your contribution is vital. For more than 50% of the total budget we depend on donors, such as church partners, individuals and development organizations throughout the world. Continuously considerable efforts and energy have to be put in to make ends meet and keep our doors open.
Patient fees unfortunately are not enough to cover all costs. Raising the fees is not a realistic option as the majority of patients would no longer be able to afford our health services. We are a Christian hospital. People who are in urgent need of medical treatment, but have no means to pay, are not turned down. The huge impact of HIV/AIDS on the Malawian society is expected to further worsen this situation.
So indeed, your contribution is vital!
And allow us to put it into perspective. In London or New York the costs of a hospital bed will be over US$ 500 for one day only! But here every single contribution makes a difference and can save lives.
