It is still raining in Mulanje, but we believe that the torrential rains of the last two weeks are coming to an end. Now is the time to assess the damage and begin to help the community rebuild.
4000 latrines have been destroyed by the floods, and three villages are in urgent need of new boreholes to provide clean water. The damage to crops and food security will become apparent as the water recedes.
Our priority at MMH is to restore clean water and sanitation to the villages in our catchment area as quickly as possible, to avoid outbreaks of cholera and other diarrhoeal diseases.
£20 or $27 provides the basic materials, cement and roofing sheets, to enable our community to rebuild one latrine
£4000 or $5,300 will pay for a new borehole and pump to provide clean water for a whole village
Please help us to get this work done quickly – any donation, however small, will be gratefully received.
